Glam, Bam, Thank-you Ma'am: Glitter Rock Style

In the early 1970s, a decadent antidote to the earnest hippie style of the late 60s burst on the scene in the glittering presences of Marc Bolan and David Bowie. Glam rock was characterized by spectacle, with androgynous looks, outrageous hair, soaring platforms, glitter, satin, spandex, lamé, feathers, rhinestones and sequins, scarves, gaudy makeup, huge glasses and invented identities…theatrical, over-the-top style. Bowie and Bolan were joined by Roxy Music, Slade, New York Dolls, and The Runaways, among others. Elton John and Rod Stewart adopted the looks at the time.

Find your own stardust persona when we revisit the glam rock style of the 1970s.
