Tiki Oasis In the 1950s and 60s Southern California went crazy for all things Polynesian, sparked by WWII veterans returned from the Pacific Islands, and the entrance of Hawaii into the Union in 1959. “Tiki Culture”—seen in restaurants, hotels, textiles, household goods, and of course clothing—was all the rage. San Diego’s Tiki Oasis vintage weekender is an homage to the craze. It takes place August 14-17 this year, and the theme is Beat Tiki. Whether you are going or not, dig the cool vibe!
