    Hello!

New member here; really looking forward to reading all of your interesting threads.

I've developed a penchant for vintage sheets and pillow cases -- is there a thread or forum here for discussion about brands, patterns, etc?

    Thanks so much!

I would love to hear about your collection, Melissa. I don't know much about linens per se, but do collect deadstock sheets and pillow cases in their wrappers, whenever I see them at house sales, since they seem to last forever. I especially like Vera prints.

I do not know of a thread here, it may exist, but we have had a number of discussions on vintage sheets and how wonderful they are. My favorite is Wamsutta supercale (percale) from the 1950s.

    Gosh I’m
Also in love with vintage linens, sheets, covers, pillowcases….. I have a most wonderful ‘bed cover’ which my mother informed me was actually a tablecloth
The quality though and the detailing…. Just wonderful. Maybe we could start a thread just for people to show their vintage linen wares!

Speaking of using vintage linens as a bedcover - this is my guest room:

Close-up. The tablecloth has faded a bit since it landed there but I still enjoy it!

Me too. Actually there is quite a bit of cross-over with clothing: fabrics, lace, embroidery, and much more. Also, there was a trend in the 1970's to make skirts from tablecloths, bodices from pillowcases, etc.

I never learned how to sew and never made anything from a vintage tablecloth or other vintage linens. The one in the photo is just on top of the duvet cover. I own a lot of vintage tablecloths and napkins, etc. etc.

Yes, I also love a vintage handkerchief be it a specialised lace, novelty print etc! I have recently let go of some fabrics because they were sadly not seeing the light of day. Others though I keep and look at, little treasures to feast my eyes upon
