Getting Dressed in the Early 1870s

Discussion in 'PUBLIC Vintage Chatter - Anything and everything' started by The Vintage Vendeuse, Sep 11, 2021.

  1. I love the "Getting Dressed" video series from CrowsEyeProductions.
Their latest is "Getting Dressed in the Early 1870s". I was particularly interested in the collapsible bustle that made it possible to sit in a chair without difficulty!

Throughout the 1870s and 1880s, bustles began to confer status (to distinguish a woman with a proper bustle from a woman blessed with natural fullness) and resultingly grew into proportions which seem rather ludicrous in hindsight.

Yeah, man. I agree with you. Old is always better than new things.
