Hi,
I bought this men's jacket for me to wear, as 1930's.
I'm trying to research it and it's proving tricky! Any help with dating, hide type, possible maker etc. would be greatly appreicated.

It's longer length, with two zipped, moleskin lined pockets to the front and two cotton twill lined inner breast pockets. The zips are marked 'EWA'. It has button cuff straps; the original buttons are missing. The belt may have had a replacement buckle as it's a plastic imitation leather covered one, but I can't see any indication of extra stich holes etc.
It's lined with moleskin (except for the replacement checked fabric) with satin sleeves with storm cuffs.

I've treated the jacket but not the belt, hence it's lost some of it's patine (but it needed it)!.

It looks like one of the earlier (pre 40's) style leather flight jacket, before they had the sheeps lining for extra warmth. I do know there is a fair amount of info out there as researched this somewhat when I had a 90's repo of a 40s sheeps leather flight jacket. I think there are even discussion threads about the zippers.

Nice looking jacket! What country are you in, and what country did the jacket come from, Hazel?
It looks long to me for a flight jacket - as an American, I’m used to seeing mostly bomber lengths. I found a good article on American flight jackets that correlates with my first reaction.

Hi, thanks! I'm in the UK, and I acquired it in the UK, but I've no idea where it came from originally. I also think it's a bit long for a flight jacket, although Amelia Earheart is photo'd in a few longer ones and then there's this (jacket L on the furtherst left): from a 20's - 30's Spalding gear catalogue (from here: https://www.vintageleatherjackets.o...jacket-reproduction-the-aviatrix.19470/page-3 )

But I don't believe mine's 20's! I think it might be more along the lines of a motorbike jacket, but.... it's driving me crazy. The EWA zips are particularly irritating; I can find zip ( :-) ) about them...

I'd suggest contacting these people, if you haven't already

I'm sure they will have a wonderful amount of knowledge and may be able to help identify specific elements like the zipper.
