Is my mothers Crocodile (Alligator?) handbag from the Fifties?

I believe it could be from the fifties, but since stuff has a habit of going from generation to generations in this family, it could be older.
Please help.

I agree - 40s or maybe late 30s.

FYI - Conditioning this with a reptile skin conditioner would work wonders and help keep it from cracking and peeling. There should be something available on Amazon that would work.
