Dug this out of the trash at our local thrift store

Not sure what we have here but we think it's amazing! Local thrift store said they don't have the ability to process/repair a fur coat. There are maybe 4 missing buttons! So, we rescued it.

Can anyone clue us in on anything about it? We think the majority of the coat is mink. The collar we are completely lost on. Also, anything about the era or the maker?

Thanks in advance for any help!

I'm not a fur expert - but it looks to me like the coat is sheared beaver and the collar is fox. You might want to look through the Fur Resource on our homepage and see what you think:

Definitely a great find in the the trash at a thrift shop! I couldn't find out anything about the company doing a quick search. The label (and the shape of the coat) looks 1950s to me.

I'm sure others will see your post and offer opinions!

Thank you both for your input! It's given us something to talk about for sure!

Linn, thanks for the link, I'll look it over now.

I was wondering if the collar was one of those other weasel furs - fitch or ferret, stoat... something like that and dyed to look like blonde mink, or it might be blonde mink. I would think late 50s or early 60s.

I found some info - Dallaire is not the maker, but a shop in St. Georges de Beauce: "Rolland Dallaire opened his store on Friday, September 13, 1948. His specialty was fur, but a new line was added in 1950 - women's clothing. The Dallaire children (Suzanne and Donald) continued the business until 1993, when Mmes Étiennette Rodrigue and Claire Rancourt became owners under the name of Dallaire C.E. enr. The doors were closed in July 2008."

So much incredible information. Thanks everyone for your input!
Most of the suggestions weren't even in the realm of possibilities when we asked here!
The information on the store is interesting as well.
Now, the hard part is deciding what to do with it. Honestly, we don't know what to do with it. Lol
