Hello all! I just bought a 1940s wedding dress for my wedding with the original photo of the bride. I am wanting to learn so much more about it so if anyone has any ideas or information - I’d love to hear from you!

Gorgeous! It looks a bit like this one from our Wedding Resource, dated 1943: https://vintagefashionguild.org/app/uploads/2023/11/1943-magsrags-wysock-scaled.jpg
Do you know what year it was first worn?

That's a lot of satin and it looks to me like duchesse satin. Probably rayon or acetate fiber. The sweetheart neckline was definitely in style then, and so appropriate for a bride! Are those leaf appliqués anything to do with your name?
Thank you! You’re right, very similar. I have been trying to find out what the patent number may be on it but no luck yet. I’ll have to check with the antique shop to see if they have any more info on the photo, maybe there’s a date on the back. The leaves are absolutely original and what really told me that this was the perfect dress for me ❣️
