Closet Memoirs

Hello Friends,
As some of you know I am working on my history masters with a special interest in fashion history. I am working on a new series for my instagram and blog called "Closet Memoirs." I am not a retailer or seller but rather a story teller. In the coming weeks and months I will be featuring vintage garments from different decades (nothing new there) but I would like to include the personal story behind the garment. Who wore it, who made it, was it for a special event any personal connection between the garment, accessory, jewelry etc. I've created similar videos about my own family pieces in the past including Granny Mades and Granny's Wedding Dress. Now, I'd like to tell the story of your grandmothers', aunties' neighbors or client fashion sense. If I get enough response it will be part of my upcoming research course and whatever I use, you will be credited with your site or store etc. So do you have an interesting "Closet Memoirs" about vintage fashion? Share it with me at [email protected]. or @fashionpastforward instagram message. Each story will include photo/videos/interviews about the garment along with historical facts about the time period as well. Vintage fashion is a piece of history and the personal stories connect the people with the time period and what they wore and why. Looking forward to collecting these images and stories from you!

Wonderful idea, Avera! Do you have any sort of timetable for collecting stories?
Definitely collecting through the Summer but I will keep it going as long as I get stories. I am really interested in the person behind the item as well as the item itself and the memories the clothing/accessories/styles can evoke and I will tie it all into the history of the specific era. I'm hoping that as I get going one story will feed into another and keep it going. Telling the "storied" history of fashion.
