Vintage Bellville Sassoon?

Hello! I recently acquired a gorgeous green dress second hand. It has two labels, one from the Galeries Lafayette on which I couldn’t find additional information, and a Bellville Sassoon Lorcan Mullany tag circa late 80s/early 90s, judging by the design. It also has size and material tags attached, and was made in England. I cannot find any trace of the dress online!
It seems well made, some parts are hand sewn. The lining is real silk and has discoloured in some areas. The buttons are plastic but have held up perfectly. The zipper is a basic YKK zipper. Chiffon underskirt. Hook and eye closures and both base and top of zipper. Photos below, would greatly appreciate help on solving the mystery of this dress!

Thank you to everyone who replied!
I’ll make it a little clearer - I want to know if there was any connection between Bellville and Lafayette. The stitching is too neat to be homemade so it had to be sold somewhere.

Hi Veronica, lovely dress - gorgeous colour and pleating. I'm not sure if I'm understanding you correctly, but the connection was that Galeries Lafayette is a high-end French department store, as mentioned previously, and they appear to have sold the dress. A bit like Debenhams, Harrods or Macy's would sell various different brands within their stores.

Yes! When I was there 4 years ago, the place was laid out almost like a very fancy antique mall - each designer (or company) with their sort-of kiosk. So if you wanted Chanel, you looked at their map and went to the Chanel "booth". There's an area for Kenzo, one for Armani, and so on. Or you can just wander through - as we did - and get overwhelmed by it all.

Your labels suggest that Bellville Sassoon had a niche at Galeries at one time.
