I listed these 4os/50s gabardine women's trousers the evening after Christmas and they sold while I slept that night. An object lesson in the benefits of getting an early look at our member's latest listings!

A tourist souvenir for US servicemen would = export, since very few GIs would have been based in China in the 1940s or 1950s, and if they had R&R there, the servicemen would be doing the exporting.
You may well be correct, but traditional garments of non-Western cultures are notoriously hard...
When I think about what was happening politically and economically in China during the 1940s and 1950s, I think this has to be newer. China was invaded by Japan during WW2, and then came close ties with the USSR, the Cultural Revolution in 1949, and adoption of Communism. I don't think China...
I agree with Cin - vintage furs can be heartbreakers. In the olden days, special storage for furs during the offseason was a thing. Without that kind of storage, the underlying pelts tend to dry out over the years, and once they get brittle, the original seaming starts to tear, and any repairs...
That's what I was getting at when I said "real fur or faux (imitation) fur".
I frequently use the term "faux" for imitation furs, leathers, pearls, gemstones etc. I have assumed my buyers would understand what I meant. Perhaps I need to rethink that and be more explicit in the description?
Very pretty, and I can see the "Russian princess" reference.
On a quick internet search, I see a Borella coat that looks similar to yours on Etsy (and with your label) decribed as crushed velvet with fur collar, and a Sportowne coat on eBay with your label, also described as crushed velvet with...

It is lovely. I was thinking mid to late 1930s, although I could see early 40s.
If you have a stroll through the 1930s section of our Wedding Resource, you will see some similar silhouettes.

Is there a sewn in label somewhere? I think I am seeing two pasteboard tags, both affixed the the top with either string or plastic. To me that would suggest that the partially torn one is for the shop where it was being sold, complete with price tag.

We can’t authenticate items here, but a quick search turned up a JPG Jeans sweater on eBay with two labels/logos, one of them matching yours. You can probably pull it up if you search there.
This is by no means definitive, but the top gives off a late 50s to 60s vibe to me - I think it’s the boxiness. Also, I don’t think there was much coming out of Asia during the WW2 years.
You mentioned shoulder pads - firmish like felt inside? Or spongier like foam rubber?
Sweet! I especially like the upper back design. I get headaches rom halter styles, so am always on the lookout for aprons that hang from my shoulders instead of my neck.
I love this place, learn something new all the time. Jonathan. in your photo, it looks like the waist fastens up the front. Is that how this one should go?
