Pauline Trigere 60's cocktail evening gown

having a few Paulin Trigere pieces myself, I have come to the conclusion that she was one of the few designers that changed her label very infrequently. For Trigere pieces, I would never go by the designer's label. It really doesn't narrow it down. Good Luck! Sandra

Question about label in a fab 40's suit

Fascinating! I have an I Magnin dress with a handwritten label with the measurements printed "Moore Compnay", but nothing else. This is a great find! How exciting.

Hello Sara. Not mink at all. I thought it looked like sable too until I saw the silver hairs on the sable on the fur resource thread here at VFG. Sharon-you are a wealth of information! Thanks. So do I hear late 50's early 60's?

Hello! Haven't posted much lately, so I'll just dive right in. Cannot for the life of me settle on a date for this one. I'm thinking late 50's early 60's It's got a bit of an A line to it. Has one of those covered wire hook things to close it. Longer in front to give it "stole" look...

    Vintage Beaded Strawberry Cardigan Sweater

This sweater is gorgeous! I would try to get the stains out. If you spot clean it with any of the above products, I'd bet they come out. Goddards is great stuff! You can use it on any non washable fabric. I used it on a silk crepe 50s dress. Nothing else worked except for Goddards. You...

A Fashionable Summer ~ Prue Acton of Australia

I am so inspired by Acton's success at such a young age. It makes me kick myself for not pursuing a fabulous life in design when I was still young and naive. Am I too old at 30??? LOL. Great pics Maureen! Sandra

    Cashin Labels

Here's an exerpt from the article: "In 1953, she began designing on a freelance basis from her studio. Unusual for the time, she worked on a royalty basis, creating complete coordinated wardrobes-accesories, knits, capes and coats, dresses and separates-to be combined in layers to suit the...

    Help dating these ankle straps?

That's what I was thinking, some sort of dancing shoe. The shape of the heel really threw me for a loop though. As well as a the buckle mechanism. Is this type of bucke normal for a ballroom shoe? Thanks April! Sandra

    Help dating these ankle straps?

I am sooo stumped on these. The vamp says 70s but the heel looks 30s and the buckle is just strange. They have a sliding mechanism that causes tension as you pull the straps into place and locks them down. They are made of the softest suede I have ever felt, very plush. But here's the...

    My new website!

I was getting ready to ditch the leopard because it feels like such a jump from the main page to the shop page (aka babylonmall store). Linda did a great job of laying hers out so it looks seamless. Does mine feel like a big jump? And, i can't get the same on'off link colors because the light...

Does Anyone Else HAVE to Earn a Living in Vintage?

Excellent advice Lizzie. I am definately in your school of thought. I was second guessing myself last night, as I am opening a website as a window to Babylon also. But my fiance snapped me back into reality. I have already made up for the cost of Babylon with very few sales. That feels good!!!!
