I am thinking late 1950's. I acquired one that is very similar with a matching hat! I verified this date of late '50's with the previous owner who was on sight that day! I wished I had a photo....I may try to do one for you. Is the print material on your bag sort of a canvass type material or...

Not sure, but a few years ago, a dealer in our antique mall, had a lovely wax mannequin in his showcase....but, pricey! I was amazed at the condition of this mannequin. I believe it had human hair and the teeth looked like they might have been porcelain.
I should have posted it with this thread.....Arabella is so interesting because David decided to add "teeth" to this restoration and I think his call on this was spot-on! He takes what would have been considered a throw away and makes it lovely once again!
Winter winds are still blowing and this lovely scarf combination hoodie will not only keep you warm, but pretty, as well!

Not all have that look, Jonathan.....I have two that David has restored and they look very vintage, I assure you! One is restored to look like Louise Brooks. Some of his customers do request that he exaggerate the mannequins with more "showgirl" features and as he does meet those requests. I...
MJ, I have put in a request for a Josephine Baker lookalike for my hats and jewelry! I LOVED that mannequin.....just so fabulous! And, Laura, I enjoyed the vintage photos of the displays so much. Glad you enjoyed this article as much as I did!
This article may be a bit long for some, especially those who don't have much interest in mannequins. But, if you have been fascinated with them, as I have been since the days I sat patiently waiting for my Mother to try on clothes in local dress shops....you will enjoy this article. I remember...
I've seen this material on '60's clothing and wondered if the material for the lacy looking material is not a synthetic material. The ones I've seen were not cotton. The color makes me think of the 1960's, too.....that bright sunshine yellow unlerlayer......like Mellow Yellow!

I was thinking from the photos and what you said about being "stored in a closet for a long time"(improperly, perhaps), that the silk of this lovely dress may have been compromised. When the silk is so fragile that it deteriorates with normal handling, it is, as Ruth suggested, a lovely display...
Without something in writing(authentic documentation) about the provenance, it surely would be difficult for anyone to say what paths this coat has traveled. One can only surmise! Ideally, it would be nice if you could go back to the dealer you purchased the coat from and ask for him to provide...
The catch on the cuff makes me wonder if maybe it is from the 1940's....at first glance I was thinking '50's as Linn said. The Mexican bracelet seems to be 1950's to me, also.
On the choker....I have had some pieces similar that were marked Germany and they look so much like sterling, but were actually heavily silver plated brass! I have one pendant that bears the Coro stamp, but also, is stamped Germany and it is definitely plated......I have louped it and could...
I am wondering if this piece came off of a 1950's charm bracelet???? They used to use a lot of charms with this type of ancient motif and I wouldn't term the pearl to be a "seed" pearl.....those would be a bit smaller and usually set differently(not in prongs). The metal could be brass, but...
Barbara, I do live in Virginia near the Historic Triangle, as it is referred to....Yorktown, Jamestown and Williamsburg. I actually work in Williamsburg at the Williamsburg Antique Mall on Fridays and it's about a 35 minute drive from where I live. I met Janea Whitacre, Mistress Milliner...
