All of the suggestions already given work well sometimes on some things. What a wealth of experience and information our members have.
Sometimes by diligently searching inside a dress, or by facing a hem, you can find enough material to make underarm gussets. Then you can just cut out the...
tubs of clothing
I am the nice lady who bought some of Brandon's collection. Twin Falls, Idaho is in South Central Idaho just off of Interstate 84. I was the one who told him to post here. His tubs are big plastic containers. The clothing is in good condition, and pass the clean smell test...
I don't have the reference at hand, but I remember looking up dates for Bullocks, and I remember that they closed in the 1960's. Don't take my word, just a suggestion for further research. Neither the shape nor the colors look 1940's to me.

I agree that it is 1960's. The color, the texture of the fabric, the treatment of the front edges are all 1960's. It may have been early 1960's because of the full length sleeves, while later many coats had elbow or bracelet length sleeves. Good luck with it.'

There is a market for large size vintage dresses. They sell them on my website almost as soon as I get them listed. This one looks like it was home made (ahem - custom made). We in the US call the side closures snaps. They have been around for a long, long time, at least since the 1910's and...
From the image I believe it could be pony. Now don't freak! It is the fashion name for cowhide, a by-product of your steak. The VFG fur resource has a short description and explanation and you can find more information on Google. I had a lengthy correspondence with a person who was convinced...

Here are a close up of the fabric and an image of the top. Thank you for your help Patentleathershoes! Marian

I am posting some photos of the now identified Vionnet dress. I am keeping it for a while just to pet and admire, but will eventually sell it at a yet to be chosen Couture auction. Thank you all. Marian
Thank you all for your kind, enthusiastic encouraging, informed responses. This is the first time I have logged into the forum.Once I read the label as Vionnet, it is so clear. And to think that I bought it a a flea market in rural Idaho, an intermountain state.
The pictures will give you an...
Can anyone help me identify this designer? I read the lablel as Madeliene Fiormet. It appears to have a woven in thumb print on the end as part of the label. The large label was sewed in the skirt of a bias cut long sleeved satin gown. It has lots of buttons down the back and on the sleeves...
