What I love about this story is that the damaged jumper - showing evidence of wear and use - is likely worth more than the replacement, presumably undamaged one. Good thing the designer kept it all these years!

Your label is closest to a '60s one in the label resource and I concur with Jonathan: hoods are not commonly seen on dressier coats.
The other labels (not shown) can also help you date: size, measurements, fabric, care, country of origin. You mention 'tricel' which is a synthetic fibre...
Theft is sadly, a downside of having a physical (brick and mortar) shop. Here's what I did.
welcomed everyone to the shop, let them know we were paying attention
give extra special attention to anyone who's acting suspicious. Thieves hate attention and will generally leave, while real customers...
I always like to wash everything but that and a lot of airing should do the trick. If you prefer not to wash them, just airing in fresh air (may take a while) should do the thing. Another option is to pop them into a plastic bag and freeze for a while.
I don't like to use vodka as the sugars...
Hi Shelly41 and welcome to the forums. It looks somewhere between the '80s to mid '90s to me, you can help narrow that down by the size and shape of the shoulder pads.
Yes, some call it a 'glen plaid', in my Australian/British world we call it a 'Prince of Wales' check. You're right in that...
Hi Betty Blue, and welcome to the forums.
Very unusual buttons, I haven't seen any like those before and even if you do find them, they need to be the right size to match the others.
The only the thing I wanted to suggest is to check the garment in case they've attached a spare for you: down...
Thank you for the extra photos. Unfortunately I'm unable to identify a likely date for your coat. It might help if we could see it being worn but some styles are very classic. I was hoping the labels would provide helpful information, perhaps they do to someone else.

Hi Ben5494 and welcome to the forums.
Can you please show a photo of the label at the front of the first image, plus any other labels that are present, eg fabric, care etc. Thank you.
Nicole
Hi dleti23 and welcome to the forums. You're right: I haven't seen that label either.
Bilingual labels started in the 1990s so I think your label is likely fairly modern. Is that a CA number in the top right? If there's another digit under the fold, you can search on that which might help.

Here's the label resource post on union labels - the closest one appears to be a '70s label, pre '74 presumably as that's when they changed but yours might be as early as '63. The style of the 'Mr A.W.' does suggest it's at the lower end of that range.
I did find a mid '60s minidress on etsy...
Hi Judy. Lovely piece. I agree with Barbara, in that it's likely from around 1910ish but it would be very helpful to see the whole silhouette/shape.
It appears to be either linen or silk with lace inserts and frogging. An afternoon or summer day coat. There seems to be some embellishment under...
Hi catinthecity and welcome to the forums.
Lovely bag: really like the Pegasus motif.
These beaded bags were mass-produced in Hong Kong during the '60s, both for the tourist market and export. The printed words are likely a customisation for a visitor, so she could have her message of choice...
Hi HLR Vintage and welcome to the forums.
'Pour homme' is French for 'for men', it's just YSL's masculine line.
Menswear is generally priced lower than womenswear for the same, or better quality and YSL licensed his brand during the '70s-90s so depending on the particular garments, the lower...
Agree with Suzanne: I see early '50s mohair mix.
My first thought was Lilli Ann but I can't find anything similar online. I do have a LA early '50s swing coat in similar mohair mix with inserted stripes, but in my case they are black velvet.
Your coat is beautiful and high end.
Rightio, so we've established that it's late '90s and we can't help with pricing or authenticating. If you take it to someone in your area who authenticates fashion they should be able to help. Unfortunately, more than photos are needed for this, it's best to view in person.
Assuming it's...
