Hi Friends,
I have a cotton kimono with a Snoopy print. The edge is stamped (c) 1958 United Feature Syndicate. Does this date the kimono to 1958? I was thinking 1970s, can you help date by the satin tag?
Thanks in advance for your expertise!
Trish
Hi friends,
I've been unable to find any information on this label, the only one in the garment. Is this 50s or 60s? I'm assuming it used to be part of a suit--would I call it a suit jacket or is there another term? Thanks in advance for your help. As before I will make a $5 donation to VFG in...
I have a red sweater vest from The Villager (EDIT: size large) that's been to the dry cleaner's. I'm a guest here, so I can't post links to my shop, but if you message me privately, I'll send you the link!

Thank you, Lynne! I was hoping to find just that information on John Hogan. I also appreciate the Joanna Nelson search results. I had only found an advertisement to an auction of her estate. I wish I knew what her couture label looks like. I'm sure mine is a ready to wear. Every dress I've seen...
Hi friends,
Yesterday I purchased two dresses with sewn in John Hogan California labels. They each have other labels--one is Butte Knit (no problem there), and the other is Joanna Nelson. I don't have photos of the dresses in yet, but does anyone know about the John Hogan label?
Thanks in...
Wow, I'm so confused! The 80s was my era and I never saw anything like this then. Yes, the quilted dress jackets were all the rage, but I remember them with more traditional quilting, not the parallel lines. The buttons, hooks (with the multiple threads for the eye) and snaps have an older look...
Hi friends,
As always, a $5 donation to VFG awaits...This is a home sewn garment (no tags), out of what I believe is rayon with a linen look. It is fully lined and aside from the buttons, it has a series of metal hooks and snaps down the front edge, starting at the collar and ending near the...
How to authenticate Chanel Jackets
This is the title of a YouTube video that takes you step by step through the process used to authenticate a jacket (from the RealReal.com)
Hi Melanie,
Thanks for your response. The fabric is a semi-floppy upholstery material. I think you may be right now that I look at it with a newer date in mind. Looking closer, the back of the leaves have plastic ribs, not wire, and the stems are covered in florist's stem tape. There is also...
Hi friends,
I'm cross-eyed by looking at hats trying to find something similar. It seems to be a cross between a tricorn/clerical/deer stalker (all men's hat names I found). I would appreciate knowing exactly what to call it! And, as usual, I'll express my thanks in the form of a donation...
Thanks for the replies! Here are several photos of the construction. I agree it has a Japanese feel to it, and I looked up Kasuri and it seems to fit! I don't know if it is maternity--the front is about one inch longer in the back when I smooth it down with my hand, but I'll have to wait until I...
Hi Friends,
I'm hoping you can help me identify this fabric. I've looked through the Fabric Resource pages, but I either didn't recognize it or it wasn't listed. It looks like Ikat and Chambray but I couldn't find anything using those search terms. The threads are dyed, and there it a tiny bit...
I just stopped in to check a label and I saw all the wonderful upgrades. This is incredibly helpful--and beautiful to boot. I rely on this site and the forum expertise when I really can't find any information. I'm off to make a donation in appreciation.
