Isn’t She Lovely? Customer Pics
I really enjoy when customers send me pics of themselves wearing something they’ve purchased from the shop – and today I received a blog link to several pics from the lovely Victoria, who really brought life and color to a simple dress.
Here are two of them ...
It's beautiful Julie! And I see that it has some nice enameling as well. :)
There's been a nice resurgence of this work in Sweden mostly, over the past 20 years. The Victorian Hairwork Society hosts (or used to host) these "Hairball" events (an appropriately named 'ball', lol) -- wouldn't...
I see -- so if it's wear, where one can see a color difference, then it appears to be goldfilled, at least on the top portion. You may want to have the bottom tested. You can also sell as is Inked (be sure to mention that it's 'blonde' hairwork), and it should do well for you.
Oh my, aren't you lucky! That's a lovely piece of hairwork and blonde no less (valued higher), and it's beautifully plaited.
Yes, the catch appears to be missing and appears to be gold, possibly 9 or 10 karat (but am guessing from the color on this monitor, and should have it tested). Is...
I'm often thinking the same thing as well. There was one fellow -- a beekeeper, who had the antique bricks of his old school, which he cherished.
I wish they could have brought in someone to make a walkway out of them for him, or one of those "What's In Your Attic" experts to at least sell...
So one has to be 'clear in the head' too? Aw shucks! There's always a catch! ;)
I like the hard working #5 lady the best (doing the shoulder stand). That was a fun read. :sunshine:
Just wanted to update the thread for those who plan on ordering -- I just received a message from 'Bookshelf of Oz' that they will be closed through January 11th -- and so I've just contacted Carter's for a shipping price quote. Keep fingers crossed that they're still open. :)
Too funny Sarah! I had purchased the Peacock book awhile back, before being warned. I wish I knew you then -- you could have saved me some good money, lolol!
Hear, hear! I didn't want to say it, but it's true. Miller is best with furniture and those areas that she specializes in. It's a beautiful coffee table book, but there are glaring errors, from beginning to end.
You can't go wrong with the newer Brunialti books (but would probably avoid...
Another lovely score Susan!
They are technically pendant earrings, although the more popular keyword is 'drop' earrings. They do have more of a 'tomato red' coloring don't they? And that's part of what's throwing me.
Don't wanna scare ya, since I really can't be sure, but that stone...
Hey Susan [waving!]
It's good to see you posting. :)
Fabulous find, and you could possibly refer to them as cluster earrings for your description, and your stones have a great amber/yellow topaz coloring.
I know those as 'dog's tooth' prongs (also sometimes called 'houndstooth prongs')...
Super! The YouTube worked for me, and I was finally able to view it! How absolutely stunning you are (and I had to do a double-take on your dress, since it looked similar to this one, lol http://www.etsy.com/view_transaction.php?transaction_id=18037703).
I also liked the background music...
Sounds like a fun day to me! Short of jumping into a time machine (harder to find these days than a checkered taxi cab, I hear ;) ), then it's the next best thing!
I love it! It's so charming and I bet quite comfortable. It reminds me to ask about a very similar piece (the granddaughters told me it was '37 - '38), and you've inspired me to go dig it out. :)
Oh my, what a handsome piece! I went to their blog to view the embroidery close-up.
This has to be the best ending line (lol) ... “It’s very stylish,’’ she said. “I hate to say it but, God, it looks great with jeans.’’
