I'm no expert, but I can darn near guarantee you that is NOT crepe de chine. It is chiffon.
Crepe de Chine would be much heavier & has a denser weave. As you can see, crepe de chine is not at all see-through as your gown is.
Hope this helps you - at least with the fabric ID.
Full length - Rayon with pearly gray buttons at the wrist. I'm long & they reach all the way to my underarm.
I don't see this particular label in the resources. I am leaning toward 50s, but if anyone knows better, please inform me.
Many Thanks.
Hi y'all - A few years back, I had a link to wither a blog or a website that was a pretty detailed resource for spotting fake or sewn-in vintage labels. Pretty sure it came from VFG..?
It showed the labels as they were originally sewn in for comparison.
Do any of you have the link to that...
Thanks so much, Mary Jane. That's very kind of you.
I figured the 'fixes' out. It HAS been a long time since I was last here.
I am on etsy only these days. I have a fab website, but I forgot my pw and can't seem to figure out how to get it back.
duh - some things never change.
Just wanted to stop by & say Hello! I hope this finds everyone well & that life & biz has been very good to y'all. I don't know how often I'll be here (pretty busy), but I hope I can check in from time to time.
I moved home to New Orleans in February & have been busy re-starting my life here...
Thanks so much, Jennifer.
I will email you. Then you can just email me photos. I have over a week to purchase & receive, so we should be good.
God Bless your Husband! ... and you, too!
I've been very emotional the past few days with all the memorials of 911.
Plus starting a new...
I May Be Dreaming...
I'm looking for a pair of Black Leather 40's pumps in size 8.5M - 8 1/2M - 39Euro.
I can only spend about $60 or $65 total including S&H.
I need them for my vacay which starts 0921/11.
I'm going to San Francisco! :)
Do any of you have such a thing in your stock?
Many...
I concur with early 60's.
It was very common to have 3" or hems in "good" dresses then.
I remember my Mom always put at least a 3" hem in all the dresses she made for both of us.
On a final note, I hope the fact that I only searched on eBay to make these won't offend anyone.
I can always remove that info & repost them if that's what I need to do to stay out of trouble.
I will post some more examples in a day or three.
I saved this info about a month ago & kept forgetting to 'drop it off.'
I can add some example photos later if y'all want me to.
The List:
Military fashion
Lingerie as outerwear
Leather clothing
Buttoned-up collars
Cut out clothing
Knee high socks
Women's camel coat...
Thank you in advance.
Do any of you know when vendors / designers stared including XS in their sizing?
I have a Vanity Fair Leopard print (yum) nightie & the label matches a 1950's ones here, but the XS size tag is throwing me.
Here's my tag.
I'll check back soon.
Right now...
Melody - Thank you.
Those are adorable, but I don't want any trim on them. Just plain.
DCD - a vintage 9.5 just might work. The inner foot bed needs to be 10.25" if that helps. If they're narrow it can be a tad longer, so they might be perfect!
Well, unless there is a teensy baby blue...
