Unfortunately the book doesn't have this number so the search continues. interestingly there is a mexican halmark that does look like the christian fish....but it is from a contemporary designer.

I have a book that lists all the artists to their marks. I'll look later on--hopefully this mark will be listed

That mark is the Mexican "eagle" mark--the number inside relates to the city that produced the piece. Looks like a #3....#3 is for Taxco~which would make sense since it is stamped..."Taxco"

the silver content is sterling - 925, so no, the 208 does not have anything to do with the silver content. it's a very cool piece!
