The tradition of a June wedding dates back to Roman times when this festival was celebrated on the first day of June. The festivities centered around the deity, Jupiter, and his wife, Juno, the goddess of marriage and childbirth.

This week the Vintage Fashion Guild celebrates all things "bride-to-be," from traditional or outrageous, mini or maxi, to shades of white, ivory, cream, blush, blue, gold or silver. Show us bridal appropriate gowns, veils, head pieces and tiaras, handbags, footwear, jewelry, bridal hats, and gloves. More than an afterthought: groomsmen's garb is welcome, too.

Elizabeth Taylor Marriage No. 1. Conrad "Nicky" Hilton, May 13, 1950
For her first trip down the aisle, Taylor said "I do" to Conrad "Nicky" Hilton (yes, he was great-uncle to Paris and Nicky Hilton). A then 18-year old Taylor chose a very 1950's gown to say her vows in front of 700 of their nearest and dearest.
The Helen Rose designed gown — Rose also designed Grace Kelly's wedding dress and Taylor's similar look in the original Father of the Bride — sold at a London auction for $187,931 in 2013.

Elizabeth Taylor's Marriage No. 5. Richard Burton, March 15th 1964 (the first time)
Before there was Brangelina and Bennifer, there was "Liz and Dick." The drama-induing duo met on the set of Cleopatrra and began a scandalous affair. They would wed (for the first time) in Montreal in 1964. Cleopatra's costume designer, Irene Sharaff, crafted Taylor's now iconic canary yellow babydoll dress. She completed the look with hyacinths and lilies of the valley weaved into a dramatic braided updo, and topped off the dress with a diamond and emerald Bulgari brooch. "The only word Elizabeth knows in Italian is Bulgari," Burton once said of Taylor

The future Mrs. Clinton was married in a similar dress to the gown Gail just listed! Here's the pictures and story:

Hillary and Bill married in the living room of their new home on October 11, 1975. A local Methodist minister and his wife officiated the ceremony as 15 of their closest friends and family looked on. Following the intimate ceremony, Hillary and Bill's friends hosted a reception in their backyard where a few hundred friends gathered to celebrate.

The night before the wedding, Hillary’s mother asked her what her dress looked like. Hillary responded, “What dress?” Hillary thought a wedding gown was irrelevant. Astonished, Hillary’s mother dragged her daughter to the Fayetteville mall and went to the only store still open, Dillard’s. Hillary picked up the first dress she saw – a $53 Jessica McClintock Victorian lace gown – and said, “This will be fine.”

A replica of Hillary's wedding dress is now permanently housed in the Clinton House Museum in the couple's old home in Fayetteville, AR.
