Hi all!
A good friend and regular customer at our shop (Elsewhere Vintage, in Orange, CA!!) just submitted a photo for the Casting Call contest for a walk on part on MAD MEN!!
Her photo was taken right here in front of my shop - in Old Towne Orange.
She's gotten kind of a late start --...
I've been working hard on my online listings (eBay fiascoes aside...) and I got a bunch of new items listed in our Etsy store (link at bottom)
I'm especially loving this pic of one of our new models, Colleen. Very sweet girl who looks a lot like Brooke Sheilds at 16, doesn't she...
Wish me luck! I\'ve re-joined the online Vintage selling community!
Yep!
I've been TRYING to wait for my website to be done -- but after one expensive fiasco and several more months of waiting for other options to pan out -- but I just can't wait any longer.
Soooo -- last week I opened a...
Neatest vintage zipper I\'ve ever seen!
Check out the zipper on this 40's gab skirt for.... the Girl Scouts!!
The pull is a little arrow -- and I've just never seen anything like it! It runs horizontally, NOT vertically.
Neat, huh?
Woman\'s Day 1950 - FOUND MONEY article
I figured if anyone would appreciate this, y'all would!
Reworking clothes is nothing new, as we all know -- but I found this Woman's Day article "Found Money" interesting so I thought I'd share!

I love this little set.
however, there are no markings at all.
I *think* it's plastic, but not cheap - it feels fairly substantial.
Anyone recognize it? I am in love with it and trying to justify my $85 price tag :D
AND -- one more, please!
I have this lovely necklace. Blue...
First -- great pin.
There was almost nothing from this estate that was newer than 80's -- but I have NO idea about this pin. I've never seen a clasp like this - you pull the pin OUT (as shown) and then the pin part can come out from under the clasp. Kind of a protected C-clasp.
the only mark...
I'm still trying to get into the swing of this whole blogging thing, so when my new mannequin arrived -- so of course I grabbed the first thing I saw and snapped some pics to experiment.
I'm still using my blackberry for photos right now- I know, I know - but it's what I have handy at the...
Probably I'm over-examining this one.
My first thought was early 70's on this cutie "car coat" style jacket but it has a couple interesting conundrums for me.
It's navy blue corduroy with a large rounded collar. It's got great large plastic buttons, full sleeves with turned back cuffs, pirate...
I recently bought out the best of the estate of a VERY fashionable woman who owned a VERY upscale women's clothing boutique in the 60's, 70's & early 80's.
There was a plethora of both personal clothing and deadstock from her store (Among many things, I have a FANTASTIC 80s wide black leather...
Well, ok. It's just from the local college paper - but I get such a kick out of seeing my store name in print!!

I came across this while looking at a link on the other Michelle Obama thread.
It's a pictorial slideshow of First Lady's gowns, and of ALL people, I figured y'all would enjoy it :)
I can't find a DIRECT link, but scroll halfway down the page and you'll see the large link in the middle of...
We\'re OPEN FOR BUSINESS!
Yet another VFG Grand Opening!
.... and we've already had our FIRST SALE!
There's still a fair amount to be done - I still have to do some rearranging & fluff up the window displays. And I still have a LOT more merchandise to bring into the store. The walls look...
We haven't had a "post a pic of you or your house" thread in awhile, so I thought I'd start a new one.
Mostly, it's an excuse to show off my new (to me!) vintage dress and my tiki bar!

I was listening to a radio show this afternoon while packing up for the Long Beach Antique Flea Market -- and they were talking about this:

Hi, all!
I'm actually venturing out into selling some stuff this week. My last listings were in January!! It's been a LONG TIME and I'm rusty!
Anyway... I picked these up because I'd recalled J. Peterman stuff doing VERY well.
That doesn't seem to be the case anymore... but I also can't...
*** UPDATED IN LAST POST! ***
Going through my Papa's estate, we came across this old photo. It appears to be a movie studio group photo of a whole lot of movie stars. We figured this item might do better on ebay than at the estate sale.
My guess right now is very early 30's -- I'd...
I have a costume designer friend looking for a vintage covered belt kit.
I was going to explain further -- but I think it kind of explains itself!
Please let me know if you have one!
Thanks!

1950\'s Lilli Diamond Halter dress - What would you call this print?
Friday night and here I am working!
That's ok, though -- DH and DD are giggling in the living room and drawing pictures together... it's nice.
So... after realizing that simply having ribs removed would NOT allow me...
Awhile back I picked up a very large lot of designer clothing, almost all new with tags.
They seemed to span quite some time in manufacture... and I'm not really familiar with modern designers.
It is kind of a cross between a modern suit blazer and a 40's clutch coat. It has an oversized...
I could swear I've seen this before... but I'm still laughing!
If you've not checked this site out before, it's definitely worth a few minutes of your time. Talk about preserving vintage fashions!:hysterical:

My aunt just sent this to me. I'm pretty sure I've seen them all before... but they still made me giggle!
