I stopped in at a vintage clothing shop in Waltham, Massachusetts this morning and found Carrie. She has a beautiful shop, clean and bright and so well organized. She's on Moody Street, an eclectic area full of wonderful shops and restaurants. It was a pleasure to talk to her about vintage...
It has some very strong adhesive that glues it down to the inner sole. I can't get it out without tearing out the Ferragamo inner sole. Anyway, I want to disclose this, but I don't know what to call it. Thank you.
it's attracting no interest on eBay. To me, it seems to be covered in Easter pastel colored gumdrops. It's pristine, and nice and large. Could I improve on my keywords for the ebay listing? I just realized I didn't use the word tote on ebay. I will add that to the title.

I almost bought it today, but thought I would look it up first. On ebay, Pendleton and Woolrich both use the term. The one I saw is the brand name "Outdoorsman" -- no other name --and is made in Duluth, Minnesota. The label looks 1940s-1950s. It zips up the front and has a loose belt across the...
The footbed is 9 inches long, which translates to a size 6 according to a chart I have. The string of numbers seems to suggest a size 7. Is a vintage 7 the same as a modern 6? Here are some pics. Thanks much.
Sorry, no pics yet. I just got home and it's dark. I'll take some pics tomorrow and post them. Right now there are just 3 Sulka robes on ebay--one current and two completed. These must be very rare. Mine is orange, cream, and brown, with an orange lining and orange piping. It's all silk, of...
This dress is made of the very distinctive yarn and stitch that St. John calls santana. The label is similar to 80s de la Renta labels on the VFG label resource, but the dress seems more like 70s to me. Now did Oscar copy St. John or did St. John copy Oscar? Like St. John, the edges are not...
This has happened often when I list something with acknowledged problems. I list it "as is" and describe the problems thoroughly, and show lots of pictures of the problems. Immediately I get a lot of watchers and a bid or two. I don't seem to get that much attention on the better stuff I list...
It's getting no looks whatsoever. What more can I say besides Japan Kimono Style Silk Evening Dress Black Red? This is why I try to stick to known brand names that serve as good key words on their own.

I'm not sure if I like these funny mink balls scattered across the collar, but it sure is different. What is this kind of collar called? It's similar to a boat neck and similar to a cowl neck, but not really either. The label is Cyrus, made in Hong Kong.
I had applied for this work several months ago when I saw their ad in Craigslist. They contacted me recently and I started today.
The study is confidential, of course (that's why they call it "mystery shopping.") Generally though, I go into branches of a large bank and ask for information...
I found these two dolls today. They appear to be mint. Apparently they are part of a series of 7 -- 1910s through 1970s. Mine are Fabulous 40s Barbie and Promenade in the Park Barbie (1910s).

This sweet little purse has a big dent in the side. The material is not cut, just dented. Is it permanent, do you think? Is there anything I can do to fix it?
The nightgown is goddess style with a "keyhole" bodice (is that correct?). The peignoir is somewhat full, not outrageously full, but fuller than a lot I have seen. The label is Miss Elaine. It's a lovely soft aqua blue. Do you think this is a desirable set?

Have you ever seen one like this? It looks like the leather top to a mahogany table from the 1940s/1950s. It's made in Florence, Italy. There is one small side pocket inside. The inside is leather, of course. No name other than "Made in Florence, Italy."
I found two nice fur coats today. One is faux leopard with mink (or maybe muskrat) collar and cuffs. The other is black persian lamb with mink collar of white and black. The collar color is unusual. I guess it's dyed. Both are large sizes so I hope they will do well next fall. What do you think...
I've heard good things about this company. They reknit holes in knits and alter knit garments, all so that the alteration can't be seen. I just bought a NWT St. John with a couple of holes in it and plan to send it to them.
It seems like a good link for our Links page.

Have you ever seen hot rollers like this? They don't have their own heating system, but use a normal iron to provide the heat. I hope they appeal to someone out there in ebay land.

I listed this dress last year a couple of times and again last week. No takers. It is matronly looking, but look at the rhinestone treatment around the collar! It's gorgeous!
I wonder if I should remove the trim (still attached to the fabric) and offer it for sale. Otherwise I will...
