Thomas Kay, a British weaver, founded Pendleton Woolen Mills in 1863. In 1895 the company began crafting woolen blankets, men’s apparel began in 1912 and women’s wear not until 1949 starting with the enormously popular ‘49er jacket. The company continues today.

The first day of Summer 2016 is June 20th. Let’s do a 1959 movie theme "A Summer Place". A very soapy love story starring a well dressed cast along with the Frank Lloyd Wright - Walker House.
Here's a few shots from the original film to start us off.
Let’s do some vintage films from the 1940's. Mildred Piece was released in 1945, starring Joan Crawford. The film won 6 academy awards. Milo Anderson was the costume designer, an unknown who did not receive the credit he deserved.
Here's a few shots from the original film to start us off.
Let’s celebrate the beginning of Spring, March 20th, with your best items for the warmer weather.

Did anyone watch the parade of athletics at the opening ceremony of the olympics? Ralph Lauren designed the outfits for the USA team. I was very disappointed in them. Just navy blue puffy waist coats? I did love the Canadian's red coats and scarves.
Anyone watching the parade of beautiful gowns? There's a lot of exposure this year. LOL
So far my favorites have been Jody Foster and Holly Berry.
Madmen just won for best dramatic series.

Anyone watch Hoarders? Can you identify with them? Seems to me several of these people aren't what I would call hoarders but just folks who don't clean (and I think I'm being kind there). LOL

Yes I\'ve Lost My Mind
This is pictures of my one and only hobby. I started the house in the late 1970's and finished it about 3 months ago. Can you tell I"m not very crafty. This is the first year I've been able to decorate it for Christmas.

Here in SW Virginia we have been dumped on. 12-15 inches so far with more coming. It's a beautiful snow.
These pics were made yesterday at 3pm and it has snowed all night.

Good Morning Everyone. I think we all did this last year but let's start a new thread.
Let's post a picture of your Christmas decorations, vintage or not.
I thought this was interesting. Supposedly this Ceil Chapman
gown was worn by Monroe and sold in 1999 by Christie’s. Ending price is said to have been $100,000.

I purchased this hat from an estate sale where only two women had lived in the house (saved all their clothing). The clothing ranged from the 1930s to the early 1960s. Can anyone help me date this hat and the type of straw? One of the older ladies at the sale referred to it as panama straw...
Can someone help me with these Daniel Greens. They look like evening pumps. Are they bedroom shoes? How old? Thanks!
