I found this lovely handbag in a carboot sale a couple of years ago.
Inside are 2 small mirrors both backed in the same leather as the handbag.
In the front pocket are a few items of ephemera in the way of four calling cards for the the same lady, an advert for a sales of works with the date of 1928 plus a small write on piece of plastic? still with the name and address on it.
The address on both the calling cards and plastic? is Syston Villa, Sturgess Road, Bognor which is in UK.

The embroidery on the outside is really pretty, the inside looks in very good condition and there is just a small amount of wear to the leather on the outside

what fun finding a piece with dated ephemera!

It was such a surprise finding it at the bottom of a box of other things at a carboot sale.
Other than the leather being slightly worn on the edges of where the flap folds, it is in amazing condition.
I would have been happy with the handbag on its own but the dated ephemera just adds that extra bit of history.

Gosh I just love finding original receipts in vintage garments. I once bought a hat box with three 1950’s hats and the receipt detailing them. Wonderful stuff!
