Hi! This is my first time posting here =) Got this in the mail today, and according to the seller, it was the original owner's wedding party dress. The back is so unique, right? I'm pretty sure it's 30's. It's got the original slip, and is in a wonderful condition. I don't know the label, maybe someone who's american might help me with it? Otherwise, look at her! She's such a cutie!
The NRA Blue Eagle label dates from 1933-1935 only, highly sought after label! From our label resource: https://vintagefashionguild.org/label-resource/nra-national-recovery-act/ I have a soft spot in my heart for NRA dresses and things
congratulations, she truly is a beauty, and with that fantastic, coveted NRA blue eagle label, she arrives dated for you!! jealous over here!
Thanks guys, I am sooo happy with it. The whimsical stars are to die for! I got to try it on and it fits but a bit too tight sadly. Hard to take on and off, as I have to slip it over my head. I might be able to alter it a bit without damaging it (move the buttons a little). I really don't want to cut it or add to it, but I also really want to be able to wear it too. Ugh, what to do... Oh, and you can't really see it, but the strip that separates the ruffles are all teeny tiny pleats (?) all the way.
Can you add on a small underlap to the left side closure in a fabric that matches either the background of the dress (or the color of the slip) and move the snaps over do the edges of the dress just butt together to give you a little more room?
I'll have to ask around and see what I can do about altering it. But I won't do anything if I'm not 100% certain that it will be okay! Thanks for all the compliments, guys, I really treasure this dress =)
The shoulder/sleeve treatment looks inspired be the movie Letty Lyntn (Joan Crawford) circa 1932. Lovely.
