So I'm back from three weeks of travel (for work) and a good week of recovering from it. It was just too tempting not to spend a few days actually doing nothing. Thank heavens for public holidays in spring
!
Anyway, I lugged some vintage a good half way around the world and back (and it survived the trip, was worn and got lots of compliments!), but I also bought some at my last stop! There was no time to go looking for vintage shops in Auckland, as the only free half day I had there happened to be ANZAC Day no less, but in Sydney at least I know where the Vintage Clothing Shop is, and as I was going to a hotel site inspection in Market Street anyway (almost only around the corner), this was just perfect. And did I find something? Yes, of course!
Find number one is this super cute cotton set with a bikini top and a skirt. 1940s and home made I guess. I've already washed it and it came out just perfect. My focus is on the skirt for now - it fits and it's a cute print, so this is the perfect summer skirt! The top is a bit too wide, but I could move the buttons and hooks a bit and make it fit if I was feeling daring enough to wear it
.
Find number two is currently at my mum's, being altered a little bit, as the bodice is a bit too wide. It's a smashing cocktail dress, and the fabric's color was so "me" that I just had to buy it! Fotos will follow...
And here... a little fun, courtesy of Madame Tussaud's Sydney, who had two figures constantly at their booth - Nicole Kidman and Leo DiCaprio... yawn. But one day they had a special guest:
(BTW - wearing my trusty 1940s blazer that I bought at the Vintage Clothing Shop almost exactly 3 years ago. Nicole, thanks for the recommendation!)
