70's Maxi Dress, I believe...

I love this dress I found & design. It's one of those pieces, I believe, where you buy the fabric designed to BE a dress. The blue trim is in the design. Isn't there a name for this? The dress is hand sewn, cotton or cotton blend, metal zipper up the back, tiny buttons down the front, that wide sleeveless look I associate with the 70s. And this pattern? Any thoughts? thank you.

It's called an engineered pattern. Yours is also a border print. The print looks like it is imitating a middle eastern woven or embroidered design.
Very 70s and just the thing I like to wear!

Thank you Melanie. My kind of dress to. So pretty, but also very tiny. Could not even get it to zip up on my mannequin. :(

Thank you Mary Jane. Yes, my mom had a dress in a similar style in the 70s. I just didn't know what to call the fabric design. I LOVE this forum. So much information. :)
