A little help please? Jewelry Folks?

These two decorated mini writing utensils (only one works - a pen) come in the gold case which does not open. I'm guessing maybe it snapped onto the inside of a purse? Or on to a cosmetic bag of some type? Other information? And era estimate?

Looks like the flap may have been torn off? It should have a flap that folds over & snaps to the front of the case.
60s. The pencils had refillable leads.

Amanda, does the case look to be original in that form? Or does it look as if it's been cut? I recall all of that gold curlicue stuff being on just about everything for awhile -- compacts, pens, hand mirrors, etc. (60's/70's). But see what others say.

Purty! 60s-does-early-20th century gilt filigree (I have some c 1920 vanity sets that use ornate filigree, but no rhinestones!)

I have the same mini jeweled pencil. I always though 60s too.
It didn't come with a case though.
I can see a jewelry maker using these in a necklace or a fancy steampunk piece.

i think 60s as well, but i do believe the gold case was from a small manicure set and then they cut the flap off to use it for the pens, they look too long for the case to have been originally for them, it would have been an odd shaped flap to cover the pens.

Just to add I have seen more modern glasses cases that are very similar too.

Yes, that decoration reminds me a lot of vintage powder compacts with similar filigree work. My mom has a small Caran D'Ache metal pencil from my grandpa, about the same size, but minus the fancy decorations - I think though that one is older.

Amanda in Vermont, I got so excited when I saw yours. I have a set of these from my grandmother! IN the 50s my grandparents had a wonderful coffee shop in Chicago and they loved gadgets! These were in her possession in Chicago in the late 50s. The case is the original case. I kept these squirreled away but the case is still cracking, it does have a fold over flap. For some reason I have always connected these with Revlon. Sorry the pictures are kind of bad but I was in a hurry.
