A Stitch in Time
From the VFG Fabric Resource: "Quilted fabric is double layered—usually with batting between the layers, and stitching through the layers in patterns."
Whether used for warmth or embellishment, quilting stitches together layers of fabric to form a garment with a distinctive look and feel. From heavier outerwear to more formal clothing in lighter weight fabrics, a quilted surface adds visual interest. Fabrics inspired by the patches used to create traditional "crazy quilts", and fabrics that are actually patchwork (or that simulate that appearance) are also visually striking.
This week, we feature both quilted and patchwork garments and accessories.
