It looks Chinese to me, too. I don't know how old it is - probably not as old as 1930's, but if it was, it could have belonged to someone who moved to the US from China (or Hong Kong,) or it could be from Hong Kong. There were exports from China up through, I believe, 1939 when China was conquered by Japan, and from Hong Kong right after WWII ended - from the mid-1940's on. (Just not during the occupation.) It is most likely from the 1950's, and if that's correct it is vintage.
A lot of people got out of China and moved to Hong Kong in 1949 when the Communists took over. Some of these people later emigrated to the U.S., Canada and to other countries.
