Yup, the only reality show that sucks me in has its finale tonight. Of course we won't know who really wins til tomorrow night. The weeks of speculating and picking apart nuances of performances are over.

So who else will be glued to the tube, and running back in to buy vintage during the commercial breaks because you figure everyone else is busy glued to the tv LOL HAHA

I'll have the popcorn ready

Chris

Maureen...should we keep Margaret in suspense and not breathe a word of it until it airs in the UK LOL.

The show starts in i think 30 minutes here on the east coast...unless its at 9 instead.

Hey Margaret, for a buck fifty I'll keep my trap shut!! :P

Well...the results are not told til tomorrow night, so you don't have to exile yourself from this thread.

Giving this some SERIOUS thought!!! :asleep::asleep::asleep:

:USING:

At this point I'm hoping for Bo!

But I really miss Constantine. :-(

At this point I don't think it really matters WHO wins! Last I hear, Clay's album had outsold Rueben's! Everyone in the top 10 (and maybe a few extras) will probably get contracts anyway...

I missed tonight's show, but will definitely be watching tomorrow night.

I'm wondering how they are going to stretch it out to 2 hours? This is the
first year that I've actually gotten interested in this show (I hardly ever
watch tv, but I got sucked in from the beginning on this.

I was sad when Anwar was booted, and then Constantine (that was a
shocker!). I'm hoping Bo wins.

Sue

I think there was an internet campaign to keep Scott voted on and that screwed up the Anwar and Constantine thing. Constantine always reminded me of any number of my cousin's goofy friends and that is what appealed to me about him. I saw an interview with Anwar and he seems like he is such a good teacher, so he is doing what he was meant to do it seems, although i would have liked to see him go further.

Okay Margaret, divert your eyes or close your ears, but for Sue's benefit i think the problem with tonight was that not enough songs that most people knew were picked. It's even better when someone can get a crowd going with a song that nobody has heard of before but it really can work against you on occassion in a show that relies on public voting. I am not sure what the outcome will be because you can't predict what people will do.

I thought it was funny that Simon said "thanks for listening to me this season" for the viewers at home.

Sue they stretch the finale out by bringing back the top 12 contestants to do a few numbers. Then they always have last years winners on so look for Ruben, Clay and probably Kimberly to sing. Then you get the "look back" clips and of course the two finalists sing some more - this time just for show.

I only watched the last part of this season. I didn't want to get sucked in again but somehow I did...

Last year I voted for Ruben all the way. And, I am embarrassed to admit that I went and saw the American Idols live tour :BAGUSE:

Naturally I went under the pretense of just going because my mom was really in to it and I wanted to take her. haha Then I kept joking with her and told her that once we got there, she was going to have to pretend she was my grandmother so people would think, "Ah how sweet. She brought her granny to see the cute show!"

:hysterical::hysterical::hysterical:

When we were in the ladies room before the show, I was waiting for my mom by the sinks and she was taking too long as far as I was concerned. I was anxious to get to our seats and for the show to start. So, being the brat I am, I called out really loud in this large, crowded bathroom, "Grandma? Are you almost ready?"
:hysterical::hysterical::hysterical:

You could just about her my mom fall over in the stall she was laughing so hard.

We had a really fun time though! Man, you should hear Ruben sing Superstar live. :wow:

~Maureen

PS - My money is on Bo! I'm sorry but just because you have a loud strong voice does not mean you can sing. And I just don't think that Carrie chick can sing. She's so flat and pitchy. I usually agree with everything Simon has to say, but when he said he thought Carrie won the competition, I wanted to :barf: What?! Is he sleeping with her??

I was kind of ticked when I found out that Canadians couldn't vote! :(

Thanks for the info and background on this Chris and Maureen.

Sue

I think Carrie is good when she sings country, but i also think she is inconsistent. She may have a decent career recording in the studio because you don't have the audience, and you can do a million takes and tweak the tracks, too. Some people are great live, some are not. There are people out there who naturally have talent without having had a lot of vocal training, etc, and there is something to be said for that, but if you are either trained in the theater, or have some other type of vocal or performance training it doesn't mean that its a negative that you are creating a voice that is not there, but some much poise, professionalism, and consistency comes with it. It can be the difference between having a career and having a good voice and also makes a big difference with your ear for it and pitch.

Some people though who aren't that great can improve with lessons, but obviously it is better to have some natural talent to begin with, or more

I love Bo and I hope he wins. I didn't watch last night but I taped it - will try to watch some of it tonight before the finale comes on.

I really miss Constantine. I can not believe he sang Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen and pulled it off! Now THAT takes talent. He should not have left when he did.

I think Carrie is great! She did a Pat Benatar song one night and I thought it was a great job.

So glad to see some "real" singers in this season! Someone who can hold a note without wavering up and down all over the map and turning 1 note into 35, if you know what I mean. I HATE that type of singing.

Deb

Oh...i know what you mean, "running the note". leave that to coloratura sopranos at the MET. It's one thing to be able to do it out of extreme control and skill...another when you can't control your voice.

Chris

I can't stand singers who have constant vibrato. Just makes them sound super nervous to me... and yet I guess a lot of people think vibrato makes a singer "talented". I don't really get it.

And Constantine. *sigh*:love008:
He wasn't exactly good looking... but he had awesome eyes and CHARISMA. Heck.. if you look at your favorite bands/singers... is it really their singing talent you fell for? For me, it's usually a combination of talent/charisma/feeling/attitude.

I'll admit that Celine Dion has a talented voice... but I can't stand her. No charisma. Just does nothing for me.
