Any ideas about this Polo Ralph Lauren jacket?

Hi guys, first post so hope it’s in the right place!

Was exploring my local second hand places and found this jacket, no idea if it’s vintage or not or even real, but was hoping the community might be able to give me some clues

Also no idea what the little bit of extra fabric on the collar is for, any ideas?

I believe the buttoned tab is a throat tab. You would probably find a button under the collar on the other side, and you'd fasten the tab across the throat.

Thanks Denise, had no idea throat tabs were a thing!

Had a read of that thread before posting, seems to make me think it would also be around the same date but I am a hopeless beginner so really have no idea.
Hopefully someone else might know.
