OMG....I got a chance to preview the goodies for auction from the estate of Dolores Wettach Williams this morning and I almost peed my pants!!! :fainting:

From the newspaper ad: " Dolores Wettach was a former fashion model and actress, and the former wife of baseball great and Hall of Famer Ted Williams. Dolores anad Ted were married from 1968-1972 and raised two children together: their late son, John Henry Williams, and their daughter, Claudia Williams. This sale is a virtual treasure trove of memorabilia from one of America’s biggest sports celebrity families. Both Dolores and Ted enjoyed very successful professional careers and became one of America’s All-American celebrity families of their time. Dolores was a successful cover girl and professional model for the 1950’s-1970’s, and Ted was without any question one of baseball’s greatest players and greatest sportsmen of all time, as well as a New England icon.

This sale will include hundreds and hundreds of various memorabilia items from Dolores’ Putney, Vermont home, covering Dolores’ modeling career, including designer clothing, accessories, movie career and other personal effects, and Ted Williams’ memorabilia from his playing and coaching careers..."

Here is a link to the auction house where you can check out the brochure:

I did not stay for the auction as my pockets are empty but it was a joy to check the items out in person! Ceil Chapmans, Zebra Trenchcoat, many Chloe's, purses, hats...many with photos and/or ads of the items.......incredible!

I looked at the auction catalog, but wasn't able to attend. A lot of the stuff said "holes, stains, etc." so I assumed it was in not great condition. Was I wrong? Lots of 70's stuff that would be a hard sell for me.

I looked at alot of the items before reading about them in the brochure and was surprised by the conditions reports. Honestly, I didn't examine them really really closely but the items appeared to be in better condition than what I read......I may have been so awe-struck I missed the real damage but it certainly didn't appear obvious to me.

That looks like a fun auction.
If you live in the area and like wearing vintage shoes she had big feet. Size 10.

Some interesting items, I may have been tempted to go to this one had I known about it but too much planning to get down there. Clothing just has to be previewed!

The baseball collectors must have had fun with this one and all the Ted Williams memorabilia.

I wonder what the final prices were like on her clothing!

I wish I had known about this, it was only 45 minutes from my house! :powwows: I never saw an ad for it, and I've called this auction house on several occasions before asking to be on their email mailing list but they have never added me.

I'll have to console myself with knowing that I had very little free time yesterday anyway (was singing in a concert this weekend). And, I shouldn't be buying much of anything right now, till sales pick up more. Still, it looks like there were some fun garments there! I liked the ones where the owner was in the old modeling photo wearing the outfit. That's neat.

Hi Guys,

I saw the stuff when they first took the consignment and were going through the things. It was interesting but there really were a lot of condition issues. The stuff may have had a chance to air out since then but at the time there was a definite "eau de mildew" to quite a bit of it. I skipped the auction even though there were a couple of lots that were tempting, but we stopped in in the afternoon and heard that the high lot of the clothing was $375 for the black Ceil. Overall it sounds like things sold where they should have an some probably higher considering the condition.

They had one item stolen on Thursday during preview. It was Ted's hunting license that was signed by him. The high lot of the entire sale was $1800 for a baseball jacket that was worn by Ted. Overall it seem a little soft but who knows.
