My search only returned 2 results. I have what I believe is a 1950s formal maternity dress by Ed Volin. I can post pics if anyone would like but I was just wondering if anyone was familiar with the name. I'm also not sure about how to go about selling it. I don't know the value, if I should do an auction or buy it now. Well, I'll get some pictures up here, just a minute.......

I'm more than a bit amazed to see what does appear to be a 50s maternity COCKTAIL dress! Even into the 60s, it was common for 'ladies' to go into virtual seclusion the minute they began to 'show'....as though the sight of a visibly pregnant woman (even the WORD pregnant was verboten) would contaminate the community.

wow i had no idea! thank you so much for the information. I hope this does well. i was so unsure of it when i bought it, i've never seen the name before. I guess we'll see!

i think its adorable, Casey, and with all the pregnant women out there right now, i'd think it'd go for some good $$

good lord, last week we must have seen what seemed like DOZENS of ready-to-pop moms and new-new babies everywhere we went

kinda scarey almost

oh, and not heard of the designer, but it does look good, looks like you might have to c a r e f u l l y steam from underneath to get that front facing to roll to the inside better

I am Kathy Volin Pulda. Ed Volin was my uncle, the oldest of 4 brothers, my father, Irwin Volin was the youngest, who manufactured maternity dresses, along with my grandfather Dave Volin, at 1400 Broadway in the garment district of NYC in the late 40s through the early 1970s. Great memories of watching the Macy’s Day parade with my Volin cousins from the showroom every year on Thanksgiving.
