Senti checking in too - thankfully my week long holiday in London got postponed for a few weeks, so I spent the day making sure all the staff at the local authority in West Yorkshire actually took notice of what we were telling them about bomb procedures - usually they just look at me like I'm a loony and assume I'm testing them when I evacuate the building.

Still waiting to hear back from a couple of friends in London though. I was in tears today everytime someone phoned to say "I'm okay"... funny how the relief affects you more than the worrying isn't it. :(

I pray that tommorrow is a peaceful day in London, and that the numbers of those who we have lost has already reached its highest. Such a sad day. My thoughts are with those whose lives were deeply affected today.

love, moons and starrs,

Senti!

Thank you for checking in!

I was thinking about you!

Interesting how so many "near misses" of people "going to London but trip postponed" that there were today. Thank goodness for delays.

I'm glad to hear from those who've posted--and still hoping all will be able to say they and their loved ones are okay. I keep going back to the news on this and have to say I feel deepest admiration of the British spirit in response.

Interesting you mentioned about the delays and people changing their plans. An important study once examined statistics before several major disasters, mainly air crashes. Apparently the chances of a person changing their scheduled plans for an inexplicable reason or due to mundane reasons rockketed prior to disasters. Apparently cancelled and missed flights rose dramatically. The conclusion was that often a persons gut instinct was subconciously kicking in and warning them off. I was in Selfridges 15 minutes before it was bombed and just had to get out, no reason but uneasiness, and it may have saved my life. I believe we do have aninbuilt radar for danger and some people hear it more clearly then others.

Louise, that is eerie about people having a feeling and acting on it.

What is the latest news?

I strongly believe in that sixth sense we possess, but it's also possibly that we do these things all the time - but only think about the alternative outcome when there is such a disaster. I do prefer your explanation though!

Thankyou to all our International friends who've been so wonderfully supportive - I watched the ABC evening news last night on the BBC and the camaraderie was really wonderful. I will possibly be taking the trip I had intended yesterday, on Saturday and ya-boo-sucks to those who would wish to frighten us all into submission.

the latest news here is that London is calm and defiant. There was one bus that exploded, three other buses had controlled explosions. People are generally determined to carry on as normal and not be bullied by terrorists. There will be well over fifty fatalities. One site is difficult to access and forensics are being very cautious not to destroy potential evidence. A fund is being set up partly by the Red Cross to aid the victims. 700 people were injured in the blasts.

Thanks for the update, Louise. I am so glad there were so little casualties. You cannot beat the Red Cross in times like these.

Hi Harriet, I was worried not hearing from you. I was going to post that i bet Harriet was lying on a beach somewhere LOL.

Liz and Louise -

you know, some people think its one of those things that it is more fun to believe but there may be something to it. Just like a mother can "sense" their child is in danger. I fully believe in some sort of "alert" but i think sometimes it is not so much a gut feeling that "someone knows specifically what is going to happen and is viewing the future", but even if you are not 100% cognizant and mentally analyzing it, its your sense when something is "off". Maybe not really knowing specifically what it is about makes us not trust our guts sometimes until after the fact.

For example, one time i was in a car accident, and my husband told me that while i was leaving he was going to ask me not to go or try and delay me not because he "knew i was going to be in a car accident" in 20 minutes, but because something about me that he could not put his finger on was "off". You know...like when someone is not ill, but slightly "off" their usual. granted, the accident was not my fault but had i been at the top of my game that way my reflexes might have been better, i would have been able to see farther ahead of me, or if i left 10 minutes later, I would have been running late and might be so concentrating on getting to work on time instead of taking a leisurely pace.

I know exactly what you mean.If I ignore my gut feeling things usually turn out badly. These days I always listen to it. I'm sure that many people have these intuitive senses but often the modern world scoffs and as a result it gets repressed and unused. If I told my husband not to do something he would listen as he knows my intuition is pretty good.
