Are you giving vintage this holiday season?

Hi Everyone,
I was just curious if you all are giving vintage gifts this year for the holidays.
I have noticed more people buying stuff from my etsy site so I think this might be a vintage christmas.
It makes a lot of sense, the gifts are unique, it's recycling at it's best, and economical.
I have a 14 year old niece who has recently discovered music t-shirts. My husband and I own a record store and we have a large bin of tshirts from concerts we've been to over the years. I plan on going through these and finding a couple for her gift this year. I also am going to pick out some pretty sparklies for my sister in law, who is a rhinestone lover.
Anyone else giving vintage to others or maybe even yourself :santa3:

I give vintage to my Mom and my son.

My fanily otherwise does not appreciate it... So I gibe them vintage coconuts heads with gift certificates hidden inside.

absolutely! :christmastree:

we're lucky as most of our family and friends fully appreciate vintage collectible's value and one-of-a-kind appeal. our 9 year old grandson does get new stuff as well, tho

my hunny is of course a vintage CRAZED man. I 've already picked him up some choice vinyl and will probably try to find him a new pair of wingtips:xmas3:

My oldest son is into some vintage.. I might try to find him some older concert shirts..:12:

One of my nieces will be here for the holidays. I usually let her select some pieces of vintage jewelry either from my RL shop or from pieces that I plan on selling. Once in a while a piece from my collection lands in hers!

I have given vintage jewelry to other relatives but I think my niece is the most "appreciative!"

I usually pick out my gifts for my hubby to buy me, I just have no interest in new stuff at all. So I usually have him add to to my books on jewelry and clothes or choose something to add to my jewelry collection.
I just got a fab rhinestone 40s-50s bracelet watch in perfect working order, which was a early gift to me from me. I'll post a picture of it later today.

For my husband I'm going to take a world world 1 compass that belonged to his grandfather and have my jeweler replace the glass crystal. I think he'll be surprised.

Anyone else giving vintage?

Linn, My nieces love my vintage clothes and jewelry stash. I have the clothes stored on hangars in the basement of our shop. (they are waiting to go on etsy). Last week they went down and played dress up for hours. They were very intrigued with the sparkly prom dresses, they are 9 and 5.
I have also given them vintage jewelry for gifts and they love it.
It nice to see them following in my footsteps.

I give vintage to most of my sisters and my mom. One of my nieces is into it too. Just on Thanksgiving my niece kept chatting up wanting a fox fur. I found her a beautiful stroller this weekend. I was tempted to resell it but it's just too perfect for her.

I'm not surrounded by any vintage lovers (that's why I get to keep my good stuff  )

I do have a couple of people who I know will appreciate some little things I've picked up in my travels~

I certainly do! for all the reasons given in this thread!

My SS will be getting some vintage! No PEEKING!!!:xmas3:

DH is getting a killer wool felt top hat I acquired recently, in its own vintage hatbox - a rare large size, so will fit both of us big heads. I gave him a vintage bowler hat on his birthday last year. DD gets some vintage every year - she's my spokesmodel, so I get to see what suits her best when we're taking pictures and then I tuck some of it away for the right occasion.

I find that vintage costume jewellery is often a hit with the ladies, even if they're not particularly 'vintagey' themselves, since so much modern jewellery copies older styles anyway!

You just have to carefully point out why its special (age, rarity etc) and that its not just come straight from Topshop or Accessorize!

So, yes, I'll be distributing a little vintage goodness this year too! :xmasunwrap2:

I've bought vintage for some of my family this year. Two pairs of lovely cuff links from Marty (Yosemite Vintage) in original boxes. Thank you so much Marty. :)

I've bought a 1950's bracelet (in the original box) for my twin sister. A vintage Christmas pin/brooch for my mum as part of her gift and last but not least, these stunning jewels for MYSELF!!! :excited: I purchased them from Laura of Metro Retro Vintage. I promise to post photos of me wearing these over the festive season. They look beautiful on and will co-ordinate well with everything!! Thank you so much Laura. I'll be sending you a U2U shortly. Eeeeek! I can't wait to wear them! :)

hehehe! And we're identical! Scary ain't it? :excited: We do look quite different really. These days our hair colour and makeup is different although we do occasionally turn up with the same style of outfit on or we might be wearing exactly the same colours.

We're not 'obsessive twins'. We don't feel the need to speak to each other every day and I might only see Alison every couple of months. We're still pretty close though. She's in the beauty business and I'm in the fashion business.

People had a lot of trouble telling us apart when we were at school. We are known as 'the twins' which was a bit of a pain seeing as there were four sets of twins in our year at high school. :duh2:

I always give something vintage to my BFF. She loves it as much as I do. I usually give her a decent vintage jewelry set or handbag.

This year, I bought 2 vintage records (33LP) for her son. He's into vinyl these days, so I got him a Lou Reed Double album & a Sid Vicious. I wanted the truly expletive Sid album, but it isn't affordable for me right now.

Oh & I got a Mr. Bingle ornament for my strange-estranged huzzband. Not vintage, but collectible as all get out. If you google Mr. Bingle, there's a full history on him - in wiki, even, I think! LOL

I will be making a few things this year, too. Picasso paper modge modged boxes, a "gone fishin' tramp art sign, and maybe the ornaments for the tree we don't have yet. I really wanted to put all the decorations up this past weekend, but it didn't happen.

On another note...My SAINTS kicked some Patriot butt tonite! Who Dat!?!?!? We're now 11 - 0! :-D
