Atomic Age

From approximately 1940 through 1963, atomic science and the budding Space Age had a large influence on all Western design. This was at the same time, and shared many characteristics with, mid-century modern aesthetics. Atomic starbursts, futuristic abstract and free-form biomorphic shapes were seen in jewelry, accessories and fabric prints. If it looks like it would be at home in a Saarinen building or an Eames house you’ll find it in this mid-mod fashion parade!
