You are right. It is a cicada! I love it even more now.

Not clear on what you mean Susan. Thinking you could have made one for yourself?

I had no idea of their value! I think I had 6 of them and I could have helped you finish your bracelet.

But they went to a good buyer at least.

They are a mix of bakelite and celluloid. I got 6 for under $10 each. Two for $0.99 (my earrings) and all others under $20.

I am pretty sure the celluloid are Marion Weeber. That centre tomato is hers, I believe. It was $10.

I couldn't have made the bracelet if prices were higher and I think $20 for a button that sold for probably pennies is a fair exchange. And, I'd like to point out, it gives the buttons a new lease on life ( the Japanese/Buddhist call this Mottainai ).

I remembered that I do have a garment with figurative buttons. They are painted wood though.

People noticed my bracelet and loved it! "That is so Linda", they said.

Anyone else with figural buttons on clothing???

Now, I have decided to make a necklace with my collection of "teenagers" buttons. I bought gold coloured chain but I may use some of my coloured plastic chain. I, originally, wanted to collect the hotdogs and make something with them. I love Lichtenstein's hotdog!!!

    Turned into a bracelet!

Edit. If anyone has one or any of those clip on animals, please let me know?

Aww, thanks. I have been collecting the "teenagers" buttons for over 10 years. Just kept getting them at good prices and it wasn't until I made that bakelite button bracelet that I remembered those teenagers!!

I am extremely happy with both.

So, the gold chain kept pulling apart under the weight of the buttons so I made one long chain.

So, I can wear it as a sautoir or layer it.

    Or, as a bracelet.

I guess, I am always searching for good prices on these celluloid and bakelite buttons so, I just got 16 at $4 each! The necklace is fuller.

And the bracelet is getting heavy!

    Wearing them is spectacular!

That makes me smile. I don't wear jewelry much anymore, but that's the kind of thing I would wear.
