Bauza Ponyskin Long Coat Made in Spain

Hello. I have this long black vintage coat with the label “Mateo Bauza, Quality is always fashion, Made in Spain”. It is VERY heavy with supple leather and what I think is ponyskin or calf hide - it’s covered in short stiff hair, which is very even and in full panels, not patchwork. The collar and sleeves have longer fur. It looks almost too perfect to be real. It is beautifully lined in a black satin material with a red sheen. I bought it years ago from a vintage shop and would like to know more but I’ve searched online without success. Can anyone help?

The image is one I found online. Mine has a different lining and label but looks the same otherwise. I have attached the label on mine below. I’m not sure what the symbols mean, other than leather.

Thanks for reading this. Any information is much appreciated.

I am confused....so, that first photo is not your coat? if not, let's remove it, and add in some photos of the actual coat you need help with, which will be much more helpful for you and for us. :)

front. back. close up of the buttonholes, collar and/or cuffs. is the lining sewn shut? or is it open? if it's open, then some photos of the seam finishes. :)

Thanks for your reply. Here are some additional photos of my coat. The lining is fully sown in. I hope this is helpful.

Hi Mary, I added 9 photos 0f my actual coat, the lining, edges, buttonholes, back and front etc, as you requested. Do these provide any clues?

Kind regards

it looks like quite a coat, it is very well made with the bound buttonholes and has beautiful detailing! It appears to be 1960s with that red/black sharkskin sheen lining and those bulky buttons; also, fur trimmed collars and cuffs were popular at that time, too.

I'm not familiar with the maker, and I'm not good at identifying fur...we do have our fur resource here that you may find helpful.

@peaceful vintage ...are you around to help with fur?? questionemoti

Thanks for your reply Mary. Yes it’s an interesting coat and I can’t fault the finish and condition. I’ve never worn it - maybe I will. I hope someone else will also be able to provide information.

Kind regards
