OK - I wore this on and off last year and just loved it... then found out somewhere (here?) that it is highly collectable. I know this brand was worn by Admiral Byrd ... but does anyone know when they stopped making them?

I wish I could help, Amanda - all I can say is, it's a really cool jacket and I can see why you wore it. The style reminds me of those quilted oriental jackets. I think with the dry clean only tag it's at least 70s.

Well... it's odd. One of these jackets, granted never worn and with the tags still on it, sold for more than $1,000 on eBay. And here is a recent sale on a so-so vest by the same company..

I'm bumping this back up because I got a Brown's Beach Jacket today. Mine has a Dry Clean Only label, so I think it's later - maybe 60's or 70's? And why are they so desirable?
Amanda, I can understand why you kept yours for awhile. I put mine on for a few minutes while we were hanging out outside - very comfy and warm (March in Maine is still cold).

Hey, Susan, I just sold one last week - got $362 for mine and it had old repairs! The Brown's Beach jackets and vests are really desirable, they are super warm and well made. I was excited when I found one. I thought mine was going to go to Japan maybe but the winning bidder is in the US. (He needs to pay me, though - it's been 7 days and he says he will pay me tomorrow.)
