I have never come across a Burberry before and this one is a beauty. It looks almost new.

In looking at the others on ebay, I found one almost exactly like this date in the 70s. So one question is, is that dating correct, and the other question is, should I list this as vintage, or should I just put it in the regular coats category?

It's a size 12 xxlong and it has a zipout wool lining. I know that I need to figure out how to get better pictures, but I just wanted to get some quick ones so I could ask my questions.

Any help on how to describe and how to price would be appreciated.

Hi, I believe that is 70's. I had one quite like it, about a year ago. I listed it in vintage, as I recall. Called it a classic trench, very desirable. I don't remember where I opened the bidding but it was an auction and I do know it sold for $275 - and mine was not in perfect shape, either, it had a stain on the back and was either a missing button or buckle. In great shape, it could do much better. Of course it is up to you whether you risk auctioning it. Depending where you sell, I bet you could price it between $400-$600 retail.

I had a similar one also 70's.. I agree put in classic trench in vintage category. There are so many fake Burberrys on ebay so put in as many detailed photos of the label and lining as possible.

I hope this helps. I used to be a fashion buyer and I bought seasonally from Burberry, Aquascutum and Daks..
I have an identical coat myslef.......This looks ot be a Frances a sit has the same gaberdine fabric weave....and the wool lining is a fabulous bonus...

I would absolutely date this at 1982-84
 
And yep, I'm a UK 12 and I wear US 10.. sounds right to me. But I think the older Burberrys come up a bit larger.. so this may also fit a UK 14 .. best to post measurements as it depends how tight/loose the wearer wants the trench
 
there shouldn't be an nylon linings...the Burberry classic check inst called nova in uk, this maybe a recent thing or for export. the buckles are all leather and MUST be removed for dry cleaning all Burberry stores can replace them for a big charge..

here these only reach about £50... you can pick them up in thrifts for £10

Burberry is a bit high street just now,l'd hang on to it...
cos that one is really good nick, storm collar and all buttons are original, this has been in a closet and unworn for a long time.. 25 years old true vintage now...

12 is a usa 14..they are generously cut, n the raglan so usually anothe half size up..

I would BIN now for xmas gift for £80 max

my husband had his original trench the same as this nicked form car £895 to replace...as new

I agree accurate measurements are preferable. I purchased a size 6 XXlong Burbery (black) in 1998. I bought it large enough to wear over a suit jacket, but I think it runs small. Perhaps the older coats were cut larger.

I find I have to try on just about everything now; that sizes vary considerably often within the same label!

Burberry coats are always true sizes.you find this with the good quality established merchants in Uk

Burberrys in my size always run a size larger, I'm a UK 12 but a UK10 in Burberry. I guess it just depends on how fitted or loose you want the coat.
