My button pal in Normandy (Matthew) has added some buttons to his listings by Jean Clement, an artist who designed a lot of buttons for Schiaparelli.

Is this the maker from the last time you posted about your friends' buttons who I was wondering about as to why the button was expensive, Amanda?

The other artist who designed the pricey buttons was Henri Hamm. Here is what Matthew said about him..

I actually don't know a lot about Henri Hamm... he was an artist in the first third of the 20th century, I think... famous for making all kinds of decorative arts objects and made a comparatively limited number of buttons, most of which have a very recognizable style. His work has become very popular since Loïc Allio included a lot of his buttons in his book... there is something about his that I like... they're very tactile, somehow, and always interesting to look at. The Hamms are pricey because there is a finite number of them since they were all hand made (as far as I know), and they are sought after by collectors.

I guess it would be worth investing in that book that mentions the HAMM buttons, so that we could ID them, as I would imagine they are not signed. I would think I may own some as some of those look familiar to me.
