Buttons

One of the most enduring designs in history, the button has remained virtually unchanged since its inception some 5000 years ago. Made from every material imaginable, the button's importance in fashion history is undeniable, reinforced by its inclusion in prestigious collections such as the Smithsonian Institution and the Victoria & Albert Museum.

In celebration of National Button Day November 16, members of the Vintage Fashion Guild will share their most fascinating of these fasteners, whether attached to a garment, or as a stand-alone sewing notion or collectible.
