Carnaby Street

Arguably, the most famous street in the world, when you think of Mod fashion, Carnaby Street is surely at the Top of the Pops. Thanks to a 1966 cover story in Time magazine, Carnaby Street changed London's stodgy, traditional reputation overnight to that of a youthful, experimental "Swinging London", a place where the hippest, most cutting-edge fashion and music was being made. Twiggy, Mary Quant, The Rolling Stones, The Who, and more made it their stomping ground, putting it on the map as a destination to shop and socialize with other creatives and devotees of the scene.

This week the VFG is giving a nod to Mod with a parade of fab gear. Get the beat of the street in poorboy sweaters, mini skirts and dresses, military-inspired jackets, eye-popping prints, gender-bending ruffled shirts and candy-colored suits, boots, hats and velvet everything.
