Celebrating Cher

Bursting onto the rock music scene in the 1960s, Cher instantly re-defined our idea of American beauty, and has been pushing the envelope with her fearless brand of style and substance ever since. An accomplished, multi-award-winning entertainer, Cher is also a philanthropist, activist, and the subject of a Broadway musical. Currently on tour at 73 years young with no sign of slowing down, Cher is nothing short of a force of nature.

Six decades in the spotlight have seen her embrace a dizzying number of fashion trends, from Hippie Chick to Disco Queen to Biker Mama... Cher has tried them all on for size. But, it was the spangled, midriff-baring Bob Mackie creations for her TV, stage and red carpet events that became her signature, and raised the bar for her "vampy bohemian" attention-getting get-ups.

This week, members of the Vintage Fashion Guild celebrate Cher's birthday (May 20th) with selections of iconic - and often outrageous - Cher-inspired style.
