The 1920s/early 30s head I use is a Deco Eyes repro . I am really thrilled with it. Its nice to have heads that are clean and undamaged. The couple that make these are REALLY nice to deal with and they have a great selection. I desperately want them to recreate an Edwardian wax head mannequin in plaster. I guess the problem is that the old heads all have real hair inset into the scalp, but they could make them up bald and then use wigs. I would also fork out for them to reproduce some period mannequins... can you imagine how fabulous it would be to have modern repro mannequins of originals from the 1920s - 1950s??? The other three heads I use are original ones.
Full size full body period mannequins? That would be fabulous! I have watched their auctions for a couple years and they do indeed do very nice work. My girls are all damaged ones I picked up here and there and repaired and repainted. So they are neat and clean but not worth what they would be if they were in that shape with the original finish. And I am not good enough to repaint the eyes well. Certainly nothing like the DecoEyes people do. Hollis
Jonathan, those are some really gorgeous hats. It's such a shame that hats aren't nearly as en vogue as they were back then - they make for such fascinating fashion accessories. And of course, the heads are lovely. I keep scouring the flea market for a head and/or dress form but they're not easy to come by. Ah well... keep searching, I suppose! That hat is just lovely Jonathan! Thanks for the heads up. But now that I see different angles, it's not quite what I thought. I imagined it a miniature fedora on a jaunty angle. A hat I have a good picture of in my mind's eye, but am not sure if I've really seen or not. If I do, I'm buying it. Even if it just sits in amongst all my other "must haves"!
