Cherry Blossom Festival

The sight of cherry trees in bloom says spring like little else, and cherry blossom festivals take place whenever and wherever the trees are blooming. In the U.S., the most famous Cherry Blossom Festival is in Washington D.C. Thousands of trees were planted in 1912, gifts from the people of Japan to the people of the United States. Cherry blossoms—sakura—are the national flower of Japan, symbolizing renewal, rebirth and reincarnation.

This week, the VFG is having a festival of our own, with cherry blossom prints and the mid to light pink shades of sakura.
