Hi guys!

I know that these loose, draping coats were popular in the forties.....
when else were loose shapes popular for coats?

It looks like a swing coat, but I can't get a grasp on the materials. What is it made of? Any labeling? What is the lining?

i dont know- i dont own a coat like this but im trying to get to grasps with the different style terms for coats...

i keep coming across names like 'trapeze', 'cocoon', 'swing'... but the coats differ and im never quite sure whats the correct term...

i like the loose style like in the above link but not sure what to call it!!

i hope i make sense

I can't be sure just from the photo but this one looks a bit more of an 80s styled one, they did have a resurgence then as well.

Swing, swagger and trapeze all refer to a similar silhouette - flaring out from around the shoulders all the way down to the hem - think of it as a pyramid shape. Tent is sometimes used to describe it too. Swagger is usually a shorter version.
Cocoon on the other hand, narrows/tapers to the hem - if you picture the shape of an actual butterfly cocoon, it's easy to remember.
