The upside-down hint is one I used for little girls' pageant dresses for years. Storing upside down does give the slips more fullness when uprighted.

my wedding gown is hanging inside out and then hung from the waist line to prevent stretching of the arms/bodice and to preserve the crinoline from getting crushed under the weight of the fabric that would be over it. i have got to get to steaming it or something... i am glad that it seems i am doing something marginally right.

In the 50's, women stored their huge crinolines by pushing them into a stocking. This reduced their size to make them easy to store

I tried starching one once and used the liquid starch that didn't work so tried the sugar water method. Both aren't that easy to do.

I have a couple that I use for my manni sitting on the floor right now. Shame on me.
