I bought this dress from the $2 bin thinking it was 1940s but i'm just not sure. Its sheer silk crepe/chiffon with the skirt made from 10 skinny panels. Its been cut off at the hem and had the collar or what ever was at the neck cut off. ¾ sleeves with a strange beaded flap and a self fabric bow at the end. Hand beading is onto fine mesh at the waist and the chest and the wrist - at the bust / chest there is a panel, cut on one side and with press studs on the other but nothing to attach it to so it's sort of flapping (i was thinking of stitching it back on one side). there is some sort of rouching (not elasticated) at the shoulders and underbust above the interesting waist panels which are also beaded. In the back there are two curved panels almost like for a bust which i've never seen before. Its all home made with hand stitched overlocking and very very thin seams. I'd love some opinions. I'm not an expert on garments.
